The Quad City Eagles beat Eau Claire Aris FC 5-0 to claim the Midwest Central Conference title for the second year running.
The Eagles came into the game knowing that only a point would secure the Conference title but they duly took all 3 points in a demolition of their opponents at Spartan Stadium on Saturday evening.
Javi Bautista opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 15th minute with a neat finish from 10 yards. He then turned provider for Kendrick Tyson a minute later who turned the ball in from close range to give the Eagles a quick 2-0 lead.
Forward Blake Ordell spotted the goalkeeper off his line and chipped it into the top left corner from 25 yards to make it 3-0 to the Eagles in the 22nd minute.
Tyson was then fouled inside the box to give the Eagles a penalty, Emlyn Jacoby duly obliged to make it 4-0 before Bautista would score again to make it 5-0 just before the halftime whistle.
Bad weather quickly brought the game to a close just as the second half kicked off as the officials deemed the stormy weather unplayable.
The Eagles end the regular season as Conference champions for the second year running in only their fourth year of existence. Attention now turns to regional playoffs as the Eagles prepare to face the winners of the Midwest Great Lakes East and Great Lakes West Division, alongside the next highest points-per-game team in a straight knockout competition.
