Renata Peixoto opened the scoring for the Eagles home opener early in the first half over the Minnesota Twin Stars as the Eagles never looked back on their way to a convincing 3-0 victory. Peixoto’s far post finish after a combination on top of the box was one of many first half opportunities for the Eagles as they had the wind for the first 45 minutes.
The second half saw the Eagles play into the wind and playing from a deeper position they still managed to open up the field in the attacking half and find scoring opportunities. Ashley Dexter would double the lead mid-way through the second half weaving through 3 defenders before slotting the ball past the on coming keeper.
The Eagles would add one more through Tori Novak to wrap up a great opening day. An angled run would see Novak’s first touch round the keeper before cutting two more Twin Star defenders before calmly passing the ball into an empty net.
The Eagles are back in action at Davenport Soccer Complex tomorrow May 31st at 5pm vs Des Moines Menace who are coming off a 1-1 draw at home vs the KC Courage.
