Wet game drowns the Eagles

On the road against the Red Stars the Eagles would be starved of possession and chances but here in Davenport the Eagles gave it a brave effort to unfortunately fall to the quality that is atop of the Midwest Conference.

A well placed corner and clinical turn in the box would give the Red Stars a 2 goal lead at the half but the Eagles had chances and a rain break at half time would change the game considerably. It would be the Eagles that would take control of the game creating a number of chances early finally to see Lu Wentz’s angled ball be picked up Tori Novak and dispatched to half the lead.

The pressure would continue with Kelly Schroeder having an effor cleared off the line, a sliding back post effort from Dexter narrowly missed the bottom corner and ended up wide and then Morgan Teel would see a wide effort also find the side netting with just the keeper to beat.

The Red Stars now playing off the counter attack would show their pace and quality as an interception in midfield would be quickly turned wide and the 2 goal lead was restored. A late solo effort would create a larger scoreline but the Eagles would be proud of strong performance despite the scoreline. The Eagles travel to St. Louis for their last away game this Friday at the Fire and Ice @ 7pm.
